Historical Exhibition “Jews of Częstochowa” in the House of Israel Meitlis

At the end of the 19th century, Israel Ber Meitlis, owner of a lime kiln on Złota Street and a coal trading business, purchased a developed property on a service street known as “Rear Street” (later renamed Mikołajewska 13). According to a design by the Łódź architect Dawid Lande, he constructed a prestigious front building (considered an income-generating house) and added to the outbuildings. Apartments in this building were rented by wealthy residents of Częstochowa, such as the Jewish doctor and community activist Dr. Henryk Szpigel, chemist and industrialist Dr. Adam Aleksander Wolberg, and the owner of the Zawodzie paint factory.

Since 2016, the ground floor of this building has housed the permanent historical exhibition “Jews of Częstochowa.”

Od 2016 r. na parterze budynku mieści się stała wystawa historyczna Żydzi częstochowianie.
