Established in 1898 by industrialist and philanthropist Henryk Markusfeld and his brother Józef to honor their deceased parents, the School of Crafts for Jews occupied a three-story building on Garncarska Street, donated along with the plot to the Jewish community. The school offered both vocational and general education, admitting students regardless of background or religion (although it also housed a Jewish prayer room). Known for its high educational standards, the school’s curriculum was restricted to short vocational courses during World War II by the Germans.
