Residence of Zygmunt Rolat and District of the Jewish Police

Zygmunt Rolat (1930–2024), an Honorary Citizen of Częstochowa, a former inmate of the Częstochowa ghetto, and forced labor camps, spent his early childhood in this building.

In 1940, the German occupation authorities established the Traffic Inspection Unit to supervise the Jewish residential district. With the establishment of a closed ghetto in April 1941, this unit was reorganized as the Jewish Order Service (Ordnungsdienst), commonly known as the Jewish Police. District I was headquartered in the main building at Aleja NMP 6, and District II at Kozia 6. Following German orders, its officers conducted arrests and street and home raids for forced labor. In September 1942, some members of the Jewish Police assisted in the liquidation of the ghetto.
