In this house lived the tzaddik from Pilica, Pinkas Menachem Lajzer Justman (1848–1920) with his family. The tzaddik was a Hasidic rabbi and the leader of the Pilica group, which originated from the Hasidim of Góra Kalwaria near Warsaw. The tzaddik arrived in Częstochowa in 1918 and acquired the property at 23 Warszawska Street, where he established a house of prayer. In 1934, his grandson, Rabbi Herszl Justman, founded and ran a yeshiva, a higher religious school. The Justman family also established and operated a Jewish printing house in Częstochowa (11 Al. Wolności) and a religious bookstore (3 Warszawska Street, later at 1 Berka Joselewicza Street).
