On the grounds of former Jewish factories at 20/22 Wilson Street, the Germans established large warehouses for items confiscated from Jews, as well as upholstery, furniture, electrical, and carpentry workshops. The labor force consisted of Jewish forced laborers, led by Michał Birencwajg, who were the first to organize underground resistance. During the deportations, they managed to hide in this area, saving around 1,500 people, mostly women with small children, elderly, and sick individuals. Later, these same conspirators smuggled the elderly and children into the small ghetto (within transported furniture and carried bags and parcels).
