In 1942, the German HASAG corporation took over the former Peltzer & Sons factory, converting it into a munitions plant. Following the ghetto’s liquidation in September and October 1942 and establishment of the camp (small ghetto), the camp housed Jewish workers who commuted daily. On June 25, all workers were detained, and barracks were constructed on-site. As the largest of Częstochowa’s camps, it had the strictest regime. During a nighttime selection on July 19, 1943, 300 Jewish workers were chosen and executed at the Jewish cemetery the next day. Approximately 3,100 Jews continued to work in the camp.
