In 1799, Częstochowa residents purchased the first plot for a Jewish cemetery to become independent of the Janów community. Established far from the city, the cemetery was accessed via a dirt road. Despite significant destruction during the occupation, over 4,000 stone tombstones, dating from the early 19th century to 1970, remain, many with notable artistic and historical value, especially in the oldest section for Kohanim and Levites (left of the entrance). During the occupation, the Germans carried out executions of Jews and Poles at the cemetery.
